Spring had been in the air in southeast Michigan for a few days before winter came back like he forgot something. Still, the spring cleaning bug had bitten me, and that extended to this blog. A few months ago I noticed that my site name wasn't displaying properly on desktop. Instead of saying warpedfrost at …

exist†trace – Yoake no Hikari

On March 30, 2022April 2, 2022 By scalesoflibraIn TranslationLeave a comment

Back in January, exist†trace chose "Yoake no Hikari" for a performance they made available to all on YouTube for Igu Day, and I started doing this translation then. But then the moment passed and I continued on with tracks from THIS IS NOW. With Omi's birthday having just passed, I figured it was a good time to …

Neo-Japanese Heroine – exist†trace

On March 6, 2022 By scalesoflibraIn Translation2 Comments

March 7th is miko's birthday, so I thought it appropriate to jump to this track to celebrate! Besides the lyrics, I've translated miko's blog about it, too. Lyrics can be found here on Rock Lyric. ☆ Neo japaniizu hiroin tomaranai kimi wa afuredasu kimi wa honto no kimi neo japaniizu hiroin togatta tsume wo kakushi …

exist†trace – THIS IS NOW

Happy New Year, O Readers! is something I should've said yesterday (technically, earlier today), but it slipped my mind. So I'm saying it now. Ahaha... Speaking of "now," let's jump right in to it! The title track "THIS IS NOW" ended up having more to it than I had initially thought. I recommend reading straight …

FFVII Cosplays Sailor Moon

On January 23, 2022 By scalesoflibraIn Illustration, Life Stuff, Play TimeLeave a comment

Way back in June of last year I was having a conversation with some friends online about what characters from Sailor Moon the cast of Final Fantasy VII would cosplay. Eventually I got around to drawing some of those ideas. Some of these are really rough because not gonna lie, I didn't want to spend …

exist†trace — DREAM RIDER

On December 25, 2021 By scalesoflibraIn Translation2 Comments

I'm once again about to start another series of Igu translations, this time taking it back to 2016's THIS IS NOW. Since "DREAM RIDER" is being used to promote exist†trace's participation in the Gynophobia Festival—it's not what it sounds like—and because it's the lead single, I decided to start from this track rather than from …

exist†trace – POWER OF “ONE” (vocal retake ver.)

On November 25, 2021November 25, 2021 By scalesoflibraIn Translation3 Comments

Since I only had one song left to do from The Only Garden, I figured this would be a fitting time to do it and once again give thanks to Silphion for showing me the liner notes from his physical copy of this great EP. I wouldn't have been able to do this anytime soon …

exist†trace – selection

On November 20, 2021 By scalesoflibraIn TranslationLeave a comment

Happy November Igu Day! Well, I missed it by an hour in my time zone, but close enough. I have only one note for this song, the fourth track from The Only Garden, and as I don't feel like writing footnotes, I'll say it here. In the lyrics we find the English phrase "Nobody can't …

exist†trace – Acacia

On October 16, 2021 By scalesoflibraIn Translation2 Comments

Happy Sweetest Day and early October Igu Day! I actually did most of this translation in early September, but then I got swamped with work and life again. Mostly life. It's been rough, some things are better while others might be worse, but... I wanted to have at least a few hours wherein my life …

exist†trace – I’m still not dead

On August 22, 2021 By scalesoflibraIn TranslationLeave a comment

I missed Igu Day this month, but I, too, am still not dead. Just dealing with a lot of time-consuming stuff, such as having to buy a new car and figure out how to use it (it's crazy going from an '04 to a '21), making major rearrangements around & repairs to the house because …

A Request

Thank you for visiting Warped Frost! I hope you enjoy your time here.

So far I’ve tackled some really long translation projects, and given how much work I put into them, and the fact that I am NOT making money off of this (notice the lack of ads?) I want these translations to stay exclusively on Warped Frost. I’m glad if people read my translations, of course, and don’t mind being linked to. Same goes for my artwork and photographs.

よろしくお願いしま〜す!m(_ _)m

From an ice cream stand on the 参道 (sandō, the road leading up to a temple or shrine) to Dazaifu Tenmangū. They sell normal flavors & unusual flavors. Black sesame isn't that unusual, but I recommend their tofu flavored ice cream and corn flavored ice cream too. (April 2016)

Tsuki no Matsu, the "Moon Pine" in Ueno Park. I don't know if this is the same tree ukiyo-e artist Utagawa Hiroshige depicted in his "One Hundred Famous Views of Edo" prints, or if it's that the nearby temple has been grooming different pines into this shape for hundreds of years. (May 2016)
