Year of FFVII

On December 11, 2024 By scalesoflibraIn Life Stuff, Play TimeLeave a comment

A post about all the FFVII-related stuff I've been pickling my brain in for the past several months. There will be spoilers for Rebirth as a game, but not in terms of story. The Dress Up Game that is Ever Crisis We're a few months past the 1-year anniversary of Ever Crisis and it's been …

exist†trace — Unforgive You

Thanksgiving heralds the (un?) official start of the Christmas season. It's a bright time that can also be depressing depending on what's going on in your life. So, I thought it fitting to reblog this song. Maybe I'm also thinking of Jason David Frank, AKA Tommy from Power Rangers. He was my first childhood TV …

FFVII Cosplays Sailor Moon

On January 23, 2022 By scalesoflibraIn Illustration, Life Stuff, Play TimeLeave a comment

Way back in June of last year I was having a conversation with some friends online about what characters from Sailor Moon the cast of Final Fantasy VII would cosplay. Eventually I got around to drawing some of those ideas. Some of these are really rough because not gonna lie, I didn't want to spend …

Whatever It Takes

On July 26, 2021 By scalesoflibraIn Art, Life StuffLeave a comment

July 5th through 12th was AeriSeph Week. I had an idea for a 4-panel comic but between working on a different piece and dealing with repeated basement flooding—essentially we've lost a whole floor of utility & storage space, and are going without a water heater until the foundation can be inspected & repaired—I couldn't participate …

Happy Halloween 2020

On October 30, 2020 By scalesoflibraIn Life Stuff, Photography, Play TimeLeave a comment

I've been using Photoshop in some form, mostly Elements, for about 15 years now. The majority of that has not been for actual photo editing. Still, I feel dumb for just now learning about dodging and burning. All this time, I've been thinking, "I wish there were a way to lighten just one specific part …

exist†trace – DECIDE

On October 24, 2020October 24, 2020 By scalesoflibraIn Life Stuff, TranslationLeave a comment

Long introduction. Jump to lyrics here. I've really been enjoying The Only Garden and was thinking of jumping to a few tracks from there, but it seems lyrics have not been officially released to online sites, and since I bought the EP from iTunes I don't have the liner notes. Assuming the physical copy came …

Same Character

Or, How It Started How It's Going, 24 Years of Drawing Sephiroth And I guess I'm counting 2020 as being over given my math up there. ^o^; I'd change it here too if I could edit my tweet about it. Things I realized putting this collage together: I apparently became a Sephiroth fan before playing …

exist†trace – I feel you

On August 10, 2020July 20, 2021 By scalesoflibraIn Life Stuff, Translation1 Comment

Edit, July 20, 2021: I've written an updated version of this post, which includes a translation of a miko blog I hadn't read when I initially posted this translation. The translation itself is almost entirely the same; the change I did make I had already written as a possible interpretation in the footnotes here. I'm …

Sephiroth Candidate Dresses 3/3

On August 3, 2020 By scalesoflibraIn Art, Life Stuff, Play Time1 Comment

¡Spoiler Warning for the original Final Fantasy VII and Remake! To avoid writing spoilerific things right at the top, let me start with a slight tangent. When I was in elementary school, I asked my mother to buy me a three-book set of How to Draw books from the Scholastic catalog. While I don't remember …

Sephiroth’s Journey Through Fukuoka

On July 23, 2020October 24, 2020 By scalesoflibraIn Life Stuff, Photography, Play Time6 Comments

One time for my 30th birthday my friends and I stepped out from dinner at the Fukuoka Hard Rock Café, which back then was across from Yahoo! Dome and next to Zepp Fukuoka and Hawks Town Mall, and saw a balloon artist with a sign that said he could make anything. A friend suggested I …

A Request

Thank you for visiting Warped Frost! I hope you enjoy your time here.

So far I’ve tackled some really long translation projects, and given how much work I put into them, and the fact that I am NOT making money off of this (notice the lack of ads?) I want these translations to stay exclusively on Warped Frost. I’m glad if people read my translations, of course, and don’t mind being linked to. Same goes for my artwork and photographs.

よろしくお願いしま〜す!m(_ _)m

Tsuki no Matsu, the "Moon Pine" in Ueno Park. I don't know if this is the same tree ukiyo-e artist Utagawa Hiroshige depicted in his "One Hundred Famous Views of Edo" prints, or if it's that the nearby temple has been grooming different pines into this shape for hundreds of years. (May 2016)
