The SOLDIER Firsts Try Painting With a Twist

The session Sephiroth, Angeal, and Genesis attend is for beginners. The painting they will recreate is a simple still life featuring Banora White apples. Angeal drinks in moderation and paints diligently. He makes a generally faithful copy of the composition, but adds enough of himself to succeed at making the image his own. Sephiroth long … Continue reading →

Or, How It Started How It’s Going, 24 Years of Drawing Sephiroth And I guess I’m counting 2020 as being over given my math up there. ^o^; I’d change it here too if I could edit my tweet about it. Things I realized putting this collage together: I apparently became a Sephiroth fan before playing … Continue reading →

Draw It Again Challenge: Sailor Moon 20 Years Later

Posted on August 29, 2016 by scalesoflibra • Leave a comment

Over twenty years ago, Sailor Moon began airing on TV in the US. I was curious about the show for two reasons. 1. Although I liked American cartoons like The Simpsons and Animaniacs, I was fascinated that there could be a show for children where the characters were drawn so beautifully they actually had elbows … Continue reading →

A Request

Thank you for visiting Warped Frost! I hope you enjoy your time here.

So far I've tackled some really long translation projects, and given how much work I put into them, and the fact that I am NOT making money off of this (notice the lack of ads?) I want these translations to stay exclusively on Warped Frost. I'm glad if people read my translations, of course, and don't mind being linked to. Same goes for my artwork and photographs.

よろしくお願いしま〜す!m(_ _)m

Is it me you’re looking for?

Close up of an "ita bag," a bag full of fandom pins and chotchkis. This one has mostly Hard Rock Cafe pins and FFVII keychains.

From an ice cream stand on the 参道 (sandō, the road leading up to a temple or shrine) to Dazaifu Tenmangū. They sell normal flavors & unusual flavors. Black sesame isn't that unusual, but I recommend their tofu flavored ice cream and corn flavored ice cream too. (April 2016)

On the door to Shin-eiji Temple (an annex of Naritasan Temple) in Sapporo, they translated "Pray freely" to "Pray it freely", which I thought felt more poetic. (May 2016)

Umegaemochi, a kind of mochi with sweet bean paste inside and a plum mark grilled onto the outside. A specialty of Dazaifu, there are several shops on the sandō that sell it. Yum! (April 2016)

Tsuki no Matsu, the "Moon Pine" in Ueno Park. I don't know if this is the same tree ukiyo-e artist Utagawa Hiroshige depicted in his "One Hundred Famous Views of Edo" prints, or if it's that the nearby temple has been grooming different pines into this shape for hundreds of years. (May 2016)
